Along with her work developing the Mother Tree Wellness Group, Ellen enjoys offering pro-bono counseling and postpartum support group facilitation around Charlottesville, VA. Ellen has two children (ages 5 and 6), two big dogs, and one supportive husband with whom she runs their wild circus.
At Mother Tree Wellness Group, we know that a lack of information and connection to others are the most powerful factors in our control that can help or hinder our motherhood experience. We know it because of our extensive training in perinatal mental health, and we know it because we experienced it firsthand. Our vision is to inform moms, empower them, and connect them, so that they can recognize the tools they have to take control of their own motherhood stories and support each other along the way.
We want to re-envision the way our society looks at motherhood: Though motherhood can include moments of joy, gratitude, and bliss, it also includes moments of panic, isolation, and sadness. Both ends of the spectrum are normal, and both can be felt in the same moment. Every mom can benefit from support, and every mom has experience and insights that can serve to support other moms, as well.
We strive to incorporate our training in mental health counseling, our personal experience in motherhood, and our passion for moving the needle forward on maternal wellness into our work. We donate a portion of our proceeds to nonprofit organizations that promote maternal wellness, and we volunteer a portion of our time to local postpartum efforts, both in direct service and in advocacy.
We envision a society that lifts up mothers, understands the massive changes that they undergo in motherhood, and rallies around them, and we utilize our platform to contribute to that vision through direct service, volunteer work, and advocacy.
